CovenantCord Privacy Policy

1. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information you give us directly:

• Full name, email address, phone number, and date of birth
• Profile information including faith background, lifestyle details, photos, and videos
• Partner preferences and deal breakers
• Compatibility quiz answers
• Reference contact information (two references required)
• Background check information including government ID and personal history
• Payment information (processed securely through Stripe. We never store your card number)
• Messages and communications sent through the Platform
• Any content you post to the Prayer Board or Community Forum

Information collected automatically:

• Device type, browser, and operating system
• IP address and general location
• How you use the app (pages visited, features used, time spent)
• Push notification preferences

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Match you with compatible members based on your preferences and quiz results
• Contact your references to verify your character
• Process your background check through our verified screening partner
• Process subscription payments
• Send you matches, messages, and app notifications
• Keep the community safe by reviewing reports and moderating content
• Improve the Platform through anonymized usage data
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information to:

• Sell to advertisers or data brokers
• Build advertising profiles
• Share with any third party except as described in Section 4

3. SENSITIVE INFORMATION

Some information you provide is sensitive by nature. This includes your:

• Government ID and background check data
• Social Security or National ID number (last 4 digits only stored)
• Religious beliefs and faith practices
• Relationship and family history

All sensitive information is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is strictly limited to authorized CovenantCord staff and our verified background check partner only. This information is never visible to other members.

4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH

We only share your information with:

• Other CovenantCord members. Only the profile information you choose to make visible
• Our background check partner. Solely to process your required screening
• Stripe. To process subscription payments securely
• Supabase. Our secure database and storage provider
• Law enforcement. Only when legally required or when necessary to protect the safety of our members

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.

5. REFERENCE INFORMATION

When you submit your two references, their contact information (full name, phone, email, and address) is used only to send them a character endorsement request. Reference information is:

• Stored encrypted in our secure database
• Never visible to other members
• Never sold or shared with any third party
• Retained only as long as your account is active

6. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA

We protect your information using:

• SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit
• AES-256 encryption for sensitive data stored in our database
• Role-based access controls. Staff only access what their role requires
• Regular security reviews and monitoring
• Secure third-party infrastructure through Supabase

No system is 100% guaranteed. If a data breach occurs that affects your information, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by law.

7. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

• Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active
• Deleted accounts: Your profile is removed from public view within 24 hours. All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Background check records: Retained for up to 1 year after account deletion for legal compliance purposes
• Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations
• Messages: Deleted within 30 days of account deletion

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

• Access. Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correct. Update any inaccurate information through your profile settings
• Delete. Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings
• Opt out. Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
• Portability. Request your data in a portable format
• Appeal. Appeal a background check denial within 30 days

9. COOKIES

CovenantCord uses minimal cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly if you do.

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

CovenantCord is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a minor has created an account, it will be immediately deleted. If you believe a minor is using the Platform, please report it to lovecovenantcord@gmail.com.

11. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

CovenantCord may contain links to external websites such as ministry resources or event pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Always review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we make significant changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email and in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of CovenantCord after that date means you accept the updated policy.
